the boss biatch in charge here at Boudies by KatieMayClicks! I'm SO EXCITED TO MEET YOU! You should prob get to know me since I'll be seeing you half naked, right?

I started shooting boudoir in 2017 after being in the wedding industry for a few years. Boudoir has always been SO MEANINGFUL to me. I grew up in an extremely religious family and was taught that women were to hide themselves and to be as small as possible as to not ever bring any attention to themselves. I grew up feeling that my femininity was a sin. I was told women were "stumbling blocks" to men. I hid myself in layers 24/7. I wasn't even allowed to wear shorts to school until I was a freshman in college.

When I tell you I KNOW the pressures of being "perfect" and COMPLETELY understand all of the weight the world puts on us to look, act and BE someone other than who we really are- I KNOW the struggle.

No one should feel like they need to hide their beauty. No one should feel like they need to be ashamed of their body. Everyone needs to be free of the expectations the world stacks on their shoulders. No one should EVER feel bad about being who they truly are.

It's my mission to make a difference in how the world views us. We are beautiful AS. WE. ARE. "Flaws" and all. I want everyone who comes through my studio doors to feel this in their soul. You are welcome here. Let loose. Be yourself. Relax. Have a babe's only day with us.

Lia is our booking assistant here at BoudiesByKatieMayClicks & she has also been my bestie for the past 15 years! Not only that- but she was the FIRST boudoir client I EVER had. When I realized I needed an assistant- she was the FIRST person I ran to. Who doesn't wanna work with their bestie? Lia is here to help you book and plan out your session. She'll answer any of your questions leading up to your session - just text her!

Mel is our newest team member but is 110% one of those people you just feel like you've known FOREVER. She is our GLAM artist for sure! It wouldn't be a Tuesday session without hearing Mel yelling "YES SLAAAY" at the day's client after they see themselves made-over for the first time. Mel is beyond passionate about makeup and would love to one day run her own salon!

Emily started here as a Boudie Babe herself! She came to me for a regular boudoir session and I realized how BOMB she was at slaying makeup that I had to have her for the team! During the week Emily cuts hair professionally and is our go-to girl whenever clients have EPIC hair needs.

Keep in mind while shopping- what parts of your body are your ABSOLUTE favorite and what you wish to conceal. For example: I, personally, am not a fan of my tummy pouch haha! So bodysuits are my BEST friend. They hide my pouch but still make me feel sexy af. A low waisted two piece set?- probably not my best friend. That’s gonna show off the area I’m most uncomfortable with. Switch it to a high waisted bottom and BOOM we’re in business! I want you to feel your absolute BEST but keep in mind I can only do that when you wear outfits that you feel like a confident bad ass in!

Try variety in the pieces you bring so we can make sure to highlight alllll your gorgeous features in all the best ways!

Certain types of lingerie are awesome to own, but not necessarily to get photos taken in. Slips, satin shorts, babydoll tops, satin robes & dresses are not always flattering when it comes to a boudoir session. These pieces can make you look larger than your real size OR hide your figure completely- when we want to enhance what you have. Bodysuits, teddies, high waisted panties & garters- these are all your BEST FRIENDS at sessions!

BUT if those pieces I listed are what make you feel like the bomb.com- BRING EM ANYWAY!  I want you to feel 100% YOU. We will make some STUNNING images either way!

DO:

EAT. Don't be hangry at your session! I know that "morning skinny" hits different, BUT I do advise eating something light before coming to the studio. DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF BEFORE YOUR SESSION. "Looking perfect" and "being skinny" is NOT what Boudies by KatieMayClicks is about. I am allllll about body positivity and loving the skin you are in. If you are not ready to see yourself this way- we can reschedule to a time when you are! You gotta CHOOSE to love yourself, see yourself how I see you. Perfect: because you're you.

HYDRATE. Boudoir is a WORKOUT, definitely give water some love before & during your session. This will also help your skin look its absolute best!

PAMPER. Self-care makes everyone feel good. Take some extra time to pamper yourself before your session so you feel even more amazing before we even start! Get your nails done, take a relaxing bubble bath, be your baddest self.

STRETCH. Did I mention boudoir is a workout?! You're gonna be SORE the day after your session. I'm so sorry, but it's SO worth it. Stretching will help a TON before your session. The more, the better. It will help with your posing & arching you'll be doing the day of!

SLEEP. I mean, this one should be obvious but we're all guilty of not sleeping enough - shamelessly get after those zzzz's the night before your session.

COORDINATE. Pick out some outfits that make you feel confident. I love having options so pack your whole wardrobe if you want to :P Make sure you're comfortable and be your authentic self!

DON'T:

SPRAY/SELF TAN. I know you wanna be tan...but spray tans & self-tanners have a way of giving you creases where you have none. I DO NOT EDIT FAKE TAN LINES. I edit warm. I can always add color- I can't take it away. So if you come in looking orange already and then get edited with my warm colors...you're gonna be WILD looking! If I try to remove the orange from your fake tan- you'll end up looking washed out or grey. BUT if you stay with your normal skin tone- I can warm you up in my editing process! TRUST. THE. PROCESS. (Please, I'm begging)

HESITATE. Ask me & Lia questions, tell us your concerns, pack your whole wardrobe (I love having outfit options!), don't hesitate to be YOU.

SHAVE. Don't wax or shave immediately before the session. At the risk of irritation or razor burn that draws attention to your bikini area or underarms. Shave one day before your session and wax at least 4 days before. Don't worry about minor razor bumps or the tiniest bit of stubble- I PROMISE you won't see it in the photos.

MARK. Be careful with the clothing you wear on the way to your session. Skinny jeans and tight bras can leave marks on your skin that can show up in photos. Wear loose fitting, cozy clothing on your way over that way we avoid those "Wow that nap must have been good" indent marks all over.

CHANGE. Do not, I repeat, do NOT, make drastic changes to your appearance right before your session. A personal story as an example: I got a haircut for my graduation party in high school- the hairdresser cut WAY TOO MUCH off and I HATED the cut. But there's nothing I could do about it because it was the DAY BEFORE my party- I had to be the center of attention while feeling SUPER insecure about the haircut I hated. DON'T BE 17 YEAR OLD ME. Save the drastic changes for AFTER the session OR make sure they're done weeks in advance.

BE NERVOUS. It's easier said than done but I PROMISE you're going to have an amazing time and you're going to feel FANTASTIC and POWERFUL. I recommend checking out the "REVIEWS" highlight on Instagram (@boudiesbykatiemayclicks) to help calm your nerves. It's FULL of babes who came in SUPER nervous, telling you how AWESOME of a time they had and how their nerves melted away. There's no need to be nervous! We're gonna have a badass day.
